On the occasion of World Environment day, Ministry of Mining of Mongolia and Mongolia EITI Secretariat organized public event for "Extractive Industries Transparency Law Draft" public discussion on June 4, 2013 with the support of EBRD TA Project implementing by ASI.
In the beginning of the discussion, Mr. Gankhuyag.D, Minister for Minging, Deputy Chair of Mongolia EITI National Council and Mr Achim Steiner, UNEP Executive director welcomed and Mr.Otgochuluu.Ch, Head of Strategic Policy and Planning Department of Ministry of Mining, Mrs Branda Koekkoek, Specialist of UNEP, Mr. Enkhbat.D, Head of Department of Ministry of Environment and Green Development, Mr.Tsolmon.Sh, Coordinator of Mongolia EITI Secretariat made a brief presentation on EITI implementation in Mongolia. Finally, ASI Director Mr.Jonathan Pell and legal consultant Mr.Batragchaa.Ch introduced EIT law draft and answered related questions during public discussion on it.
Over 100 delegates participated in this discussion on the behalf of government, extractive industry and civil society and gave very useful comments and recommendations on the draft EIT law.
