Mongolia EITI Secretariat organized four "EITI Regional Conferences" on August, October and November 2013 among over 600 local representatives and it covered 20 aimags out of 21. The first conference were in Western Mongolia in Khovd aimag and participated neighbor 3 aimags. On October, Eastern Conference organized in Khentii aimag and neighbor 2 aimags participated. Total participants was around 100 people. Central Regional Conference organized in Ulaanbaatar City and over 100 people participated from 7 aimags.
With the support of EBRD TA project implementing by ASI International, Mongolia EITI prepared 25 EITI Trainers between July 29 to August 02, 2013 in Ulaanbaatar. Trainers consist from 4 government officers, 3 company representatives, 18 local and national level civil society representatives.
On July 4, 2013 Mongolia EITI Secretariat have organized the training for Chair and Secretary of EITI Subnational council and local civil society organizations under the subject of "EITI Subnational Council and Civil Society Participation" in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
Mongolia EITI Multi-stakeholders National Council 11th meeting took place in the Government House on December 23, 2013.
The meeting was opened and welcomed by Prime Minister of Mongolia Mr. Altankhuyag.N
He mentioned that one of priority of Mongolia EITI is passing Mongolia EIT law in the nearest future or in 2014, and Government is supporting an openness and transparency in all sectors.
On the occasion of World Environment day, Ministry of Mining of Mongolia and Mongolia EITI Secretariat organized public event for "Extractive Industries Transparency Law Draft" public discussion on June 4, 2013 with the support of EBRD TA Project implementing by ASI.
With over half of the 39 countries that are implementing the EITI now Compliant, how to convert transparency to accountibility was a recurring theme among the 1,300 delegates at the 6th International EITI Conference.
The Conference were organized in Sydney, Australia on 23-24 May, 2013 and Mr.Gankhuyag.D, Minister for Mining, Deputy Chair of Mongolia EITI National Council and other Mongolian government, extractive companies and civil society delegates participated in the Conference.
In 2012, 300 extractive companies have disclosed there payment paid to the Government in 2011 fiscal year. 200 companies' reports were reconciled by the independent auditor and the auditor varified the total payment with the amount of 2,1 trillion MNT and tt equals with 55% of State total budget revenue.
This year 1503 mining companies, 8 oil companies, 3 uranium companies totally 1822 extractive companies reported EITI 2012 report by March 31, 2013 and it equals with 80% of total license holders in extractive sector. Please click here to download the list of reported companies.
